AI & Data Solutions Engineer (m/f/d) (S0702)
Notice on the company name:
Since July 1, 2026, LANCOM Systems has been named Rohde & Schwarz Networks and Cybersecurity.
The LANCOM Management Cloud enables our customers to setup and monitor tens, hundreds, or thousands of LANCOM network devices. Using the latest technologies for modern cloud-based web applications, we work in agile, cross-functional teams to build software that makes network administrators’ lives easier.
While we embrace remote work, we continue to offer offices where we can connect in person when it's beneficial, for example for creative brainstorming, collaborative projects, and celebrating successes together. Our flexible and family-friendly work environment is key to building great products.
As an AI & Data Solutions Engineer you build future-ready data pipelines for Agentic AI features. You own MCP integration, RAG architecture, and context engineering within LMC.
Responsibilities:
- design and build scalable data pipelines that transform raw device telemetry and platform data into structured, AI-ready datasets
- own MCP server design and integration — connecting LMC to Large Language Models as a reliable, context-aware data source
- architect and operate RAG workflows: chunking strategies, embedding models, vector store management and retrieval optimization
- develop and maintain scalable microservices and RESTful APIs (OpenAPI 3.0) supporting AI-driven product features
- contribute to platform architecture evolution — with a focus on data infrastructure, AI integration patterns and context engineering
- evaluate and prototype agentic AI approaches (tool calling, orchestration frameworks, autonomous workflows) for LMC use cases
- review code for quality; ensure adherence to engineering standards and data reliability principles
- collaborate closely with Architecture, UX, QA and Product — translating AI capabilities into shipped product features
- keep pace with the fast-moving AI/ML landscape; identify and assess relevant technologies for LMC's roadmap
- mentor engineers and further increasing AI literacy within the tribe
Your profile:
- data pipeline engineering: Design and build scalable, reliable data pipelines for AI-driven features — from raw device telemetry to structured, model-ready datasets
- LLM integration & MCP: Practical experience integrating Large Language Models into SaaS products; hands-on with Model Context Protocol (MCP) server design and implementation
- RAG architecture & context engineering: Design and operate Retrieval-Augmented Generation workflows; hands-on with chunking strategies, embedding models, vector stores and prompt engineering
- RESTful API design: Design, build and maintain RESTful APIs to OpenAPI 3.0 standard; deep understanding of enterprise integration patterns
- Java / Kotlin & Spring Boot: several years hands-on with Spring Boot microservices; strong grasp of clean architecture, separation of concerns and resilient distributed systems
- SQL & event-driven architectures — Strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL); solid experience with Kafka or comparable message brokers and event-driven design patterns
- experience with at least one vector store (e.g. pgvector, Qdrant, Weaviate, Milvus) for semantic search and RAG pipelines
- operational knowledge of ClickHouse for high-volume time-series and analytics workloads
- solid Python skills for data engineering, ML pipeline scripting and AI integration tasks
- network domain knowledge: Familiarity with WAN, LAN, Switching, Wi-Fi or Security is a plus
- fluency in English and German level B1/2 (CEFR) are required
What we have to offer:
- a place where your opinion matters and the opportunity to actively shape our product
- a flexible work environment with great teams embracing agile methods
- an attractive salary and bonus system with extensive social benefits
- diverse and challenging projects with international partners
- the unique opportunity to shape the future of Europe’s leading network solution provider
- multiple opportunities for personal education, modern equipment, sports offers, company events, job bike, and family contributions
